Lamination stack repair on a 4,000 kW motor rotor

February 26, 2026

Rotor lamination stack with visible separation on a 4,000 kW motor
Asset
4,000 kW motor
Symptom
Abnormal vibration & noise
Finding
Rotor lamination stack separation
Outcome
Major failure prevented, no extended downtime

We received a 4,000 kW motor presenting abnormal vibration and unusual operational noise.

During detailed inspection, we identified a progressive separation within the rotor lamination stack. This condition was compromising the mechanical integrity of the rotor core and generating instability under operation.

If left unattended, this type of failure can escalate to a bigger damage.

Fortunately, the issue was detected at an early stage. We performed a comprehensive repair of the lamination stack, restoring axial compression, structural integrity, and dynamic balance of the rotor assembly.

Early intervention prevented a major failure and avoided extended downtime for the asset.

Reliability is not accidental. It is the result of timely diagnostics, engineering expertise, and specialized execution.
